Texas has just announced the hiring of former Western Kentucky defensive tackles coach Kwahn Drake for 2026, and he'll serve as the Assistant DL coach to Kenny Baker for the Longhorns.
Drake has spent time at a plethora of different schools such as Eastern Illinois, Tulane, Kansas, and Colorado over the past 14 seasons.

He's been in charge of interior defensive linemen for the most part wherever he's been, and he'll be doing more of the same at Texas.
It ultimately sounds like Kenny Baker will be the "head coach" of the defensive line, with Drake and LaAllan Clark acting as his assistants and specializing or focusing on the defensive tackles and defensive ends, respectively.
Drake will have an incredibly talented group of interior defensive linemen in Austin, with Ian Geffrard, Hero Kanu, Alex January, and Maraad Watson leading the way in 2026. It'll be interesting to see if Texas is planning on adding any more coaches this year.
