Wide Receivers

Antwan Goodley was a nightmare for the Texas secondary last year. Goodley torched the defense for 114 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight catches. He might have had twice the number of catches had the weather been better. Goodley is built like a running back, meaning defenders have a hard time bringing him down. Shoulder tackles won’t work against this guy. Goodley had 71 catches for 1,339 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He will be a handful for the Texas defense.

Levi Norwood saw his production jump, especially in receiving yards. Petty began to trust Norwood more and more as the season progressed. He has good height at 6-foot-2, and uses his large frame to shield defenders from the ball. You can see why he is a Petty favorite.

After Goodley and Norwood, the receiving corp is thin on experience. Jay Lee had 22 catches last season, which sounds like a low number in Baylor’s arcade-like offense. The Bears added four freshmen in its 2014 recruiting class. It’s possible we see one or two of these players on the field this year.

Quandre Diggs and Duke Thomas will have their hands full with this group. Because of the dangerous run game, the safeties may have to cheat up and support the run defense. This could leave Diggs and/or Thomas on an island. That’s not an island I would want to be on.
