Texas picked up a much-needed win last weekend. Now the Longhorns face another tough opponent when the Cal Bears football squad visits DKR.

The Cal Bears football team is off to an impressive start. The Golden Bears are 2-0 after victories over Grambling and San Diego State. Cal has scored 108 points in those two games. This includes a 73 point outburst against an over-matched Grambling team.

Texas should provide Cal with its stiffest test this season. How tough the test will be depends on whether the Longhorns can correct some deficiencies in the defense.

Texas gave up more than 400 yards of total offense to Rice. The Owls controlled the clock, possessing the ball for 44 minutes. The outcome of this game could have been different had Rice not turned the ball over five times.

The Bears don’t have a scrambling quarterback like Texas saw in Notre Dame’s Malik Zaire and Rice’s Driphus Jackson. Jared Goff is more of pocket passer. This presents a different set of problems defensive coordinator Vance Bedford must address.

Here is a look at several Cal Bears football players Texas must stop in order to have a shot at winning the game.
