Defensive Linemen – Jamari Chisholm and Ta’quon Graham

Jamari Chisholm and Ta’quon Graham are very good recruits on the defensive line. But, they are not interior pass rushers and run-stoppers that Texas needs. At least not yet.

Chisholm is a highly-regarded JUCO transfer who could see immediate playing time in Todd Orlando’s 3-4 defensive alignment. The same goes for Graham, who is listed at 6’3″ and 251 pounds. Will the Texas coaching staff ask Graham to put on more weight to play in the middle?

At Houston last year, freshman sensation Ed Oliver played a key role in Orlando’s 3-4 defense as the interior lineman. Oliver checked in at 6’2″ and 289 pounds, which could be the target for Graham if he is selected to play more inside than outside.

Texas did not land a natural Defensive Tackle in the 2017 class, but they have players on the roster who could fit Orlando’s scheme. The additions of Chisholm and Graham will make for an interesting position battle in the spring.
