(1) Navy Midshipmen. Texas and Navy have a rich football history because their only two meetings are tied to Texas’ first two National Titles.

The most important game in Texas Football history featured #1 Texas being #2 Navy in the 1964 Cotton Bowl to win the 1963 National Title. It was the first championship for the Longhorns after being denied for so many years. It also earned Texas national respect after taking down the mighty Naval Academy led by Roger Staubach.

Then, in the 1969 season, #2 Texas beat Navy in Austin as part of the non-conference schedule. During that same season, Texas went on to beat Notre Dame in the 1970 Cotton Bowl to win their second National Title.

It’s time for Texas and Navy to meet again after nearly 50 years. It could mean another National Title for Texas.
