(4) Herman Had Nice Things To Say About The D-Line!

We were shocked – shocked! – to hear Coach Herman have something nice to say about the Defensive Line.

Herman made waves during the start of Spring Football when he called out the D-Line for being out-of-shape and needing the most work of any unit on the team.

After Tuesday’s practice, he said the unit’s bodies are still a wreck, but he did find positive about their football abilities.

“I saw them making plays,” Herman said. “They still gotta get in shape. But, I am happier with them because I saw them in pads. The one thing that you could tell – even in the winter conditioning drills – is that even though their bodies are sloppy, they have a really quick and explosive first step.

“You saw that a lot today in pads and inside drill and team and all that. So, yes, I was more pleased, but they still have to get in shape.”

It still sounds like Coach Herman needs to book the D-Line on a Longhorn Network edition of “Extreme Makeover: Austin” edition. But, at least there was shockingly something positive about the unit after Spring Break.
