Top All-Time Texas Football Quarterbacks – Number 15: David Ash (2011-14)

Career stats: 4,728 passing yards, 31 TDs, 18 INTs, 62.9 completion %, 138.6 passer rating, 379 rushing yards, 5 rushing TDs

Don’t worry — I’m not joking myself by thinking David Ash was some outstanding quarterback for the Longhorns. While he wasn’t a complete disaster either, he certainly had his limitations as the starter. Still, he was extremely productive for Texas during his four years on campus.

Unfortunately, his career was constantly hindered by injuries. After a strong 2012 campaign, he suffered two concussions during his junior season that forced him to miss all but three games. After the season opener in 2014, the head injury resurfaced and led him to hanging up his cleats for good.

Still, we can’t ignore the impact he made while in Austin. He finished his career at Texas ranked eighth in career passing yards and seventh in career passing touchdowns. His performance during the 2011 Holiday Bowl also showed the type of impact he could have when healthy and on his game.

It’s true. Ash will never be remembered as a star quarterback. Considering his production, impressive showing during his one full season as the starter and overall talent he brought to the table, he’s more than deserving of a spot on this list — even if it is No. 15.
