There’s a good chance that Baylor could see the biggest increase in win total of any Big 12 team for the 2018 campaign. Head Baylor football coach Matt Rhule has his program trending in the right direction, so this should make for a tougher matchup this fall than it was last.

Yet, since this list isn’t all made up of recent meetings between the Horns and Bears, we can highlight the significant edge over this certain opponent. Baylor is one of the historically worst Big 12 football programs. However, former head football coach Art Briles brought the programs to new heights with scandal bringing it back down to earth.

The quarterback matchup between either Sam Ehlinger or Shane Buechele for Texas and Charlie Brewer for Baylor is one of the most intriguing parts of the upcoming meeting. Last year, Texas took down Baylor by a pretty extreme margin. Considering Texas defeated Baylor by a greater margin on the road than it did the Kansas Jayhawks at home, it symbolizes the dominance that the Horns put on display.

This time around, Texas still needs to take care of business against Baylor, despite the likely improvement coming from this program out of Waco, TX. Texas still owns the talent edge on both sides of the ball over the Bears. And, even though Baylor has more recent victories over Texas, this is the Horns’ time to shine in this lengthy in-state rivalry series.
