Texas Football: 5 2018 opponents the Longhorns have the most success against
Among all the teams on this list, the Oklahoma State Cowboys might be the best entering summer workouts and leading up to fall camp. Oklahoma State does lose its two brightest stars in quarterback Mason Rudolph and wide receiver James Washington, but Mike Gundy sits among the best head coaches in the nation and should find his way back to having skilled offensive personnel.
The recent success found from the Pokes against the Horns could change this fall. But, Oklahoma State won six of the last eight matchups against Texas. Usually, Texas does own this matchup, especially when it’s taken to Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK.
It’s great timing for Texas to face Oklahoma State in a location where it historically fairs very well. Gundy and the Pokes don’t have a clear answer under center, as it should fall between the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors grad transfer Dru Brown and incoming freshman four-star recruit and Texas native Spencer Sanders.
Although the Horns don’t have the quarterback situation set either, it definitely owns the edge in terms of state of that position on the depth chart. Texas has more proven options all over the roster than Oklahoma State, so it could finally fall in favor of the Horns after some tough years against the Pokes.
