A marquee prospect that Texas could land to really boost this 2019 class is a California native that is being pursued by more than 20 schools in four-star shooting guard Cassius Stanley. Texas has given a ton of focus to Stanley for about the past year, so that commitment from the program should catch his attention to some degree.

This Sierra Canyon High School product would be that prized commitment that Smart and the Horns have gotten used to on the recruiting trail over the past decade. He would be an immediate impact type of player that would fit into the backcourt nicely. The departure of senior guard Kerwin Roach Jr. could be immediately filled by Stanley for the 2019-20 season.

Stanley is getting offers from high profile programs across the nation including the USC Trojans, Kansas Jayhawks, Oregon Ducks, and the Alabama Crimson Tide. His offers stem from the ACC all the way to the opposite cost in the PAC-12. 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have Stanley landing with the Trojans, but the Horns are still in the thick of the fight.

The spot-up shooting ability, facilitating, and pure bounce in the game of Stanley makes him an attractive prospect and would bring a unique skill set for Texas. He ranks as the 27th best prospect in the nation and the second best at his position. There’s really not a better shooting guard that Texas could hope to nab at this point.
