Texas Football: Road map to beating the Sooners
What Oklahoma has done
Entering this game, the Sooners are still undefeated with a very close call recently against the Army Black Knights. Oklahoma was actually carried into overtime by Army in what amounted to its closest game of the season, but emerged victorious ultimately at home in Norman.
The loss of star running back Rodney Anderson for the season due to injury has clearly hurt the Sooners, but this team does have depth at the position. A bigger role was handed to the likes of Trey Sermon, T.J. Pledger, and Marcelias Sutton. Another injury to an Oklahoma running back would be crippling for head coach Lincoln Riley and this offense.
The most dangerous part of this offense is the connection between quarterback Kyler Murray and his numerous weapons in the passing game including Marquise Brown and CeeDee Lamb. Tight end Grant Calcaterra is also emerging as a nice part of this Oklahoma passing game as a big red zone target for Murray.
One of the potential points of exploitation for the Horns is going to be this Oklahoma secondary. Cornerback Parnell Motley has proved to be vulnerable this year, and some of the more athletic and proven skill position players for Texas football can find some holes in this suspect defense of the Sooners.
