Injury halted any chance that true freshman linebacker Ayodele Adeoye had of making his way onto the field for the first seven games of the 2018 campaign. Adeoye has been held out of action since fall camp due to a knee injury and hasn’t even suited up for Texas football yet with the chance to play.

Since Adeoye might not play until the end of the regular season, this part of the list comes with an asterisk. If the highly recruited four-star linebacker Adeoye can make his way onto the field without lingering injury issues, he should  be put into a some type of game situation before his first year is in the books.

The Texas linebacking corps is already slight on depth due to all the transfers and injuries experienced during the off-season. Two of the more talented freshman linebackers for the Horns were very limited at the beginning of the season due to injury. Yet, at least DeMarvion Overshown was able to make his season debut in the Red River win over the Oklahoma Sooners.

Both senior linebackers in Anthony Wheeler and Gary Johnson will be gone next year and Texas could use some players that at least have some type of game experience to come into the mix. Adeoye should be in line to be a starter at some point in the next two years. He’d be starting alongside Jeffrey McCulloch and Malcolm Roach next year if given the opportunity.
