Put the game in the hands of Taylor Cornelius

The outcry of Oklahoma State fans to see anyone else but senior quarterback Taylor Cornelius spearhead this offense became abundant to fans across the Big 12. How bad the Oklahoma State offense looked through Big 12 play so far came as a surprise to many but is also a juicy opportunity for this Texas defense.

In Week 7, the Kansas State defense forced the hand of Oklahoma State offensive coordinator to put the game in the hands of Cornelius. We all saw how that worked out with the Pokes having no passing touchdowns and two picks. There were a few penalties that wiped out potential passing touchdowns for Cornelius, but nothing that stuck to his stat line.

The overall season stats for Cornelius aren’t too shabby with 20 total touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. But, things have gone downhill fast for the Pokes since the three-game winning streak to start the season against the FCS Missouri State Bears, South Alabama Jaguars, and Boise State Broncos.

If Oklahoma State is able to get in a rhythm offensively, it will come as a huge surprise since the Horns should be able to take complete advantage of this matchup. The Oklahoma State offense is at its worst when Cornelius has to throw the ball deep consistently and the pocket is always collapsing on him.
