Texas Football: 10 reasons the Longhorns can still win the Big 12 in 2018
10. The home schedule
At this point, it seems as if Texas football couldn’t frame it better for how the four remaining games lines up in terms of geographic location. Texas gets West Virginia and Iowa State at home. Having to travel to Morgantown, WV, and Ames, IA, might even pin the Horns as underdogs if that was the way that the schedule lined up this year.
Instead, the toughest remaining atmosphere for the Horns to play in after getting the Oklahoma State Cowboys out of the way (granted in negative fashion) is Lubbock, TX, and Texas Tech. Jones AT&T Stadium will be rocking when the Red Raiders host the Horns, but that could be manageable with the right mindset in the locker room.
Playing head coach Matt Campbell and Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium just seems like a death sentence now for any top 25 team playing them. Iowa State will be a bit easier for the Horns on the Forty Acres. And, Iowa State might be a top 25 ranked team in the Playoff poll coming into this game which tends to help the cause of Texas.
We shouldn’t even have to mention how nice of a position Texas is sitting in if it rattles off three straight victories. That only leaves the hapless Kansas Jayhawks on the road with two losses up to that point. While the last time the Horns traveled to Lawrence will leave this fan base scared for a long time, this team will go in with a different mindset.
