3. Will anyone else decommit?

We already discussed the players that decommitted within the past month from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class. Houston and Powell’s decommits could wind up hurting the depth in the receiving corps for the Horns, but that’s not likely to do too much. Houston and Powell were two of the lowest rated commits the Horns had at wide receiver in this class.

However, the discussion surrounding high school prospects flipping is more abundant than ever. With the recent installment of the Early Signing Period, the flips became a mainstay storyline of the festivities in the month of December. The changing of commitments from any big time prospects right now is something the Horns can ill-afford. Transfer news, like what came from Carter recently, makes locking down the biggest commitments more significant.

The only other prospect that seems to have the rumor of flipping sometime soon is four-star Houston, TX, offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd. Texas and the Texas A&M Aggies went back and forth for the pursuit of Shepherd. Head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies could still be in the mind of Shepherd heading into the Early Signing Period.

It’s hard to tell if anyone else is lurking away from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class lately. Powell and Houston had some signs that they could shy away from their pledges to this class before their decommitments were actually announced. There doesn’t seem to be anyone else, outside of Shepherd, that has that kind of rumor spreading around right now.
