The former West Virginia Mountaineers star quarterback Will Grier isn’t getting the respect he deserves in this NFL Draft. Entering the 2018 college football regular season, Grier was considered to be a potential top 10 pick in this draft. West Virginia had an electric offense this past season under Grier’s direction.

Now, we’re looking at Grier as a signal caller that could possibly be falling all the way down among the day three selections now. What could make Grier such a valuable commodity in this draft is that he could be a steal wherever he lands, especially if it’s in round five or later.

Not only does Grier have more ideal size than Kyler Murray, his skill set and range could be better too. Grier has a cannon of an arm and a solid deep ball. More than anything, he stands out throwing on the run. He’s got some characteristics that are similar to NFL quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield. Though that’s not a valid comparison across the board for either.

Grier might not wind up as the best quarterback that comes out of this class, but he could definitely be the gem here. All he needs is one chance to get a path to a starting job in his first two or three year streak in the league, and he could be a solid starter for quite a while. Considering the lack of quality depth in this quarterback class, it’s a mystery why Grier fell as far as he did.
