Biggest storylines:
Getting such a letdown on the scoreboard for All-EN had to be a huge storyline, especially considering all the talent on that roster. The name that should always stick out to Texas football fans in this regard is five-star North Shore elite running back Zachary Evans. Him and four-star in-state wideout Troy Omeire didn’t have the greatest of outings.
Fast Houston not making it very far in bracket play is important to note, but it was nice to see four-star cornerback Dwight McGlothern having himself a nice weekend. McGlothern is a big target for the Horns, and keeping his stock going in the right direction is important to get the attention he needs from the Forty Acres.
Best teams:
We can’t go through this piece without mentioning how good Team Grind and Texas Team Fury were in this tournament. Team Fury wasn’t one of the most highly ranked teams entering this event, but they surely showed out. It wasn’t until it Team Fury hit Team Grind late in bracket play that it was knocked off.
These types of recruiting events can provide good insight into the progress of some of the top skill position players for the Horns. Some of the best defensive backs and athletes on the defensive side of the ball also get good exposure here. It was a big day for some of the top Texas targets, and potential offerees to come for the Longhorns.
