3. Houston Cougars

There will be a lot lost for the front seven for the Houston Cougars this off-season. The first name that always comes to mind with the Houston front seven is the projected top 10 2019 NFL Draft selection and defensive tackle Ed Oliver. A few other key losses include linebacker Austin Robinson and Roman Brown.

If Houston is looking to add more experience to the front seven to bridge the gap between a host of new faces among the starters, then nabbing Townsend from the Texas football program could be a solution. Losing Oliver, Robinson, and Brown, is going to hurt.

Moreover, a point of appeal for nabbing Townsend for the Cougars could be the Big 12 connection between first-year Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen. Holgorsen made his way over to Houston from the West Virginia Mountaineers football program in a surprising move to kick off the off-season.

Another point that could draw the Cougars to Townsend is the fact that he is a Missouri City, TX, native and could make a logical jump to a strong Group of Five program. He also received an offer from Houston out of Ridge Point High School. There are a few links that make a lot of sense here between Townsend and Houston.
