There are very few bigger fish that the 2020 Texas football recruiting class could target in general than five-star Upland, CA, and Upland High School inside linebacker Justin Flowe. He ranks as the nation’s No. 3 2020 high school prospect. He’s also the best prospect out of the state of California and the best linebacker.

A ton of recognition went the way of Flowe already, and getting his commitment could win over his brother two. That would be two big time linebacker recruits that Texas could win over when it’s all said and done. Both were on the Forty Acres recently for key visits that could carry some weight as the off-season moves along.

The issue is going to be prying Flowe out of the grips of the big California programs. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions gives the USC Trojans the edge to land the commitment of Flowe at the moment. A few of the other programs that are notable among Flowe’s finalists include the Sooners, Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Clemson Tigers.

There are programs spanning from coast-to-coast trying to get the pledge of Flowe. He’s a game-changing talent that could immediately impact almost any program on the defensive side of the ball. This would also not be the first time that the Longhorns were able to win over a top five-star defensive recruit out of the state of California.
