Texas Football: 5 most important May 2021 recruiting targets
Landing a top running back recruit in the nation would be huge for Texas football to continue building this balanced offensive attack under Herman and offensive coordinator Tim Beck. This elite 2021 high school prospect also recently attended Junior Day both at Texas and Texas A&M.
For the 2020 recruiting cycle, the clear top target among high school running backs for the Longhorns is the No. 2 ranked prospect overall, five-star North Shore product Zachary Evans. For 2021, a lot of focus should fall on five-star Garland, TX, and Lakeview Centenniel High School running back Camar Wheaton.
Evans is truly a once in a decade type talent at running back coming out of high school. He’s considered by many to be the most talented 2020 high school prospect in the entire country. Yet, Wheaton is still a quality running back target that the Longhorns should prioritize early in the 2019 off-season before he really starts to gain traction with other programs.
Wheaton is rated as the No. 21 2021 high school prospect in the nation and the top overall running back. He’s also rated as a top two prospect coming out of the state of Texas. The highlights of his 21 offers include Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and USC. Oklahoma and Texas A&M already offered him too.
