2. Veteran leadership brings exactly what Texas football needs

There is a lack of veteran leadership that has proven experience in the backfield at the collegiate level in the locker room for the Texas football program right now. Yet, rising junior quarterback Sam Ehlinger is about as good as it will get for the Longhorns in terms of returning experience to lead this offense.

But, it would be good for Ehlinger to have some type of experienced rushers to rely on and other capable and proven skill position players in the backfield outside of rising sophomore Keaontay Ingram. Also Ingram is only a rising sophomore and doesn’t have near the experience level that Feaster does in terms of winning conference titles and getting into the College Football Playoff.

Granted, last season was a new experience for every Longhorn in playing in the Big 12 Championship Game for the first time since facing the Nebraska Cornhsukers before the conference broke apart nearly 10 years ago. But, bringing Feaster into the mix would give the locker room another veteran voice that has won two national titles under head coach Dabo Swinney with Clemson.

Feaster is used to nothing but success during his run with Clemson. Outside of one loss in the College Football Playoff Semifinal back in 2017 against Alabama, he’s won the ACC and the National Championship every single year of his collegiate career. That presence would be much welcome on the Forty Acres.
