Texas Basketball: 5 best remaining 2019 transfer prospects
A more long-term project that could help to upgrade the Texas basketball frontcourt is the rising sophomore former Nevada Wolfpack big man Jordan Brown. As one of the highest rated recruits from the 2018 basketball cycle, Brown should be a very highly sought after prospect in the transfer portal heading into the summer.
The only Big 12 school that seemingly had a realistic shot at landing the Brown as a five-star power forward coming out of Prolific Prep and Napa, CA, was head coach Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks. He had nine offers coming out of high school including Nevada, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, UCLA, and Oregon Ducks.
Brown also held scout looks from the Kentucky Wildcats during his recruitment. Although, Brown didn’t get much actual playing time for a team that had very high expectations in the Wolfpack last season. He only got one start while making appearances in 33 games as a true freshman.
Foul trouble and turnovers would have to be minimized for Brown before landing with Texas, but he surely should be a candidate worth pursuing. Other programs that are pursuing him include the Arizona Wildcats, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Arkansas Razorbacks. Texas should jump into that mix to land Brown out of the transfer portal to upgrade the frontcourt.
