1. Pivotal running back battle

Most of the focus from this recruiting weekend should rightly fall on what happened with the various running backs that were on campus on the Forty Acres. A main focal point of the 2020 Texas football recruiting class by now should be five-star Salpointe Catholic rising senior running back Bijan Robinson.

But the real game-changer heading into the weekend of official visits with the annual pool party was the news that dropped with five-star North Shore top rated running back Zachary Evans planning to be in attendance. This was a surprise since Evans eliminated the Longhorns among his five finalist schools. He could very well just wanted to be on campus for the pool party.

Previous to his official visit with Texas, Robinson was on campus with a main competitor trying to land him with first-year head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Texas and Ohio State were battling for both Robinson and four-star safety Lathan Ransom.

Ransom appears to be trending fully toward Ohio State now, but Robinson is going more in favor of the Longhorns. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions for Robinson now give Texas the edge over any other school, including the second place UCLA Bruins. Ohio State and UCLA are important competition to follow in the race to land Robinson, but Texas appears to be in a good spot.
