A player that was highlighted frequently in Last Chance U is also a product of EMCC in the second season of the show. Former EMCC and Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Chauncey Rivers got his scholarship offer from the Texas football program not out of JUCO but when he was coming out of Stephenson High School during the 2015 recruiting cycle.

Rivers wound up committing and signing his National Letter of Intent to play for former head coach Mark Richt and Georgia in their 2015 recruiting class. Off-the-field issues forced Rivers out of the Georgia football program and over to EMCC. One year later, he was able to take his talents to Mississippi State as a four-star defensive end JUCO signee.

Rivers actually contributed at a high level with Mississippi State during his redshirt junior campaign in 2018. He tallied up 24 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks. He should be a key contributor for this Mississippi State defensive line again under second-year head coach Joe Moorhead this coming season.

Yet, looking back on Rivers’ recruitment coming out of high school during the 2015 recruiting cycle, his offer sheet was stacked. His best offers came from the LSU Tigers, Clemson Tigers, Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers, and the Longhorns.
