4. A look at 2021 in the trenches

Where the 2021 Texas football recruiting class could really make a name for itself is in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

What was lacking for Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand last season was the long-term outlook for depth and talent in the trenches. Texas brought back a very experienced starting group of linemen last season, but won’t have as much heading into this coming season.

However, the key Texas targets along the offensive line for the 2021 recruiting class look to be five-star All Saints Episcopal offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer and five-star Duncanville offensive tackle Savion Byrd. Brockermeyer and Byrd rank in the top two slots at offensive tackle in the nation and both are top 15 prospects overall for 2021.

On the defensive side of the ball, Texas has a host of emerging elite targets that could immediately upgrade the defensive line. First off is the rising five-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, who received a lot of attention from Longhorns fans of late. Five-star weak-side defensive end Landon Jackson is another one that should be getting more focus from the coaching staff.
