Texas Football: 5 biggest stars Longhorns face in 2019
TCU is always going to be a battle on the road for Texas football. Until last season, the Horned Frogs were a notable thorn in the side of the Longhorns since they joined the Big 12 back in 2012. Head coach Gary Patterson did little to help Texas on their road back to the top of the Big 12.
Last season finally saw Texas get over that TCU hump. Although that was a down season by the usual Horned Frogs considerations, this was nice to see a thoroughly dominant effort shine through from the Longhorns. In a pivotal showdown at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in mid-September, the Longhorns ousted the Horned Frogs by a final score of 37-14.
One player that the Longhorns have to be weary of when they travel to TCU this coming season is rising junior wide receiver Jalen Reagor. The ultra-elusive Reagor put on a show against a host of Big 12 competition last season. He amassed more than 1,200 total yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns during a breakthrough sophomore campaign.
The problem in trying to defend Reagor is the fact that Patterson can use him as a weapon all over the field. He can come out of the backfield, catch the ball at the line of scrimmage and make multiple defenders miss, or he can run solid routes.
