Texas Football: 3 forgotten seniors who can still contribute
I’ll start here along the defensive line, which makes up one of the more interesting position groups to follow for Texas football in fall camp. Texas has a lot of quality options along the defensive line that can make an impact in the rotation. But one that sticks out as a defensive tackle deeper down the depth chart is senior Jamari Chisholm.
Entering the 2019 campaign, Chisholm will be one of the most tenured Longhorns with the smallest body of work in terms of playing experience. Chisholm has just four career total tackles and one tackle for loss. He didn’t play in all that many games with this Texas defense through the last three seasons.
But Chisholm could a more realistic option to anchor the line in spots if injuries start to rack up or in games with big leads early on. He has the size and motor to at least get a handful of snaps this fall.
If head Texas football coach Tom Herman and defensive coordinator Todd Orlando don’t trust Chisholm enough to give him significant playing time this coming season, then he could still make an impact on special teams. Chisholm has been around on the Forty Acres long enough to know how to thrive in certain roles he fits in.
