The final two misses on this list for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class both could’ve helped out at a position of need coming off the 2019 season, at cornerback. The first of the two is the four-star in-state Mansfield Timberview product Jalen Kimber. On Dec. 18, Kimber signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Georgia Bulldogs.

There was a time when it looked like Herman and the Longhorns were a lock to land this Arlington, TX, native to solidify their standing as a rising recruiting power in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Instead, head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia were able to pry Kimber from the Longhorns and other major programs in and around the state of Texas that offered him.

Kimber chose to sign with Georgia over other offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Oregon Ducks. But maybe the most significant offers that Kimber looked past to sign with Georgia were from Texas and Texas A&M.

Moreover, Kimber ranks as the nation’s No. 127 2020 high school prospect and the No. 8 cornerback. The 6-foot and 170 pound cornerback has electric speed and good ball skills. One or two years of development in man-to-man coverage and Kimber could’ve become a stud in the scheme ran under recently hired Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash.
