Maybe the most important target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class right off the bat that was present at Junior Day is four-star Katy cornerback Hunter Washington. There’s going to be a number of competing programs in this region of the country that will be trying to get Washington out of the grips of the Longhorns.

Since Washington is a native of Katy, TX, he is one that the Longhorns can pursue essentially in their own backyard. He’s the type of high school prospect that Herman and the Longhorns need to reel in. And since cornerback might be thin in the 2020 recruiting class, landing Washington becomes much more crucial.

This 5-foot-11 and 178 pound defensive back ranks as the nation’s No. 191 2021 high school prospect and the No. 14 cornerback. And even though the assistant coach that originally recruited Washington (Jason Washington) is no longer at Texas, he seemed to be keeping an open mind heading into his Jan. 18 visit to Austin.

The highlights of the more than 20 schools that Washington has on his offer sheet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, and Ohio State. But it wasn’t all that long ago that Washington received his official scholarship offer from the Longhorns in the first place (back on Nov. 9, 2019).
