Texas Football: 2 Longhorns to watch in the Senior Bowl
2. Collin Johnson, Wide Receiver
Coming off a 2019 season that was filled with injuries and a bit of disappointment with the Texas football program, Collin Johnson wasn’t really able to get off and running consistently. The 6-foot-6 and 220 pound towering outside receiver played in just seven of the 13 games for the Longhorns last season.
Johnson finished up his last season on the Forty Acres with 38 receptions for 559 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Seeing Johnson cap off the final game of his senior season in the burnt orange and white with a touchdown catch in the Alamo Bowl win over the Utah Utes on Dec. 31 by a solid 28-point margin was great.
If Johnson was able to stay healthy throughout the 2019 season, it definitely looks as if he would be a 1,000-yard receiver. The 1,000 receiving yard mark was never one that Johnson was able to quite hit. He finished up just 15 yards shy of hitting that 1,000 mark during his junior season. Lower-body injuries limited him too much last season.
However, the draft stock of Johnson should still be high. He just needs to prove that his hamstrings will stay together throughout the rest of this calendar year and that the explosiveness and physical tools will still translate to success in the NFL.

The hype surrounding Johnson is already building in the Senior Bowl as he got off to a good start in practice and the showcases early this week.
