3. Houston Cougars

A common landing spot when any former Texas football player puts their name in the transfer portal is the Houston Cougars program. Landing with Houston makes even more sense for players now that a well known former Big 12 head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers, Dana Holgorsen, is leading the way.

The Longhorns head coach Tom Herman also has that obvious past connection with the Cougars since that was his last position prior to getting hired with Texas in December 2016. There’s also traces of the former Texas and Houston defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and his scheme in the Cougars defense.

Orlando will be taking over likely as the next defensive coordinator under head coach Clay Helton with the USC Trojans after it looked like he would be taking on the same position with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. His next landing spot isn’t really realistic for a transfer defensive tackle like Wilbon since USC returns so much production along the defensive line.

However, Houston does lose senior nose tackle Aymiel Fleming since his eligibility ran out following the 2019 season. Rising junior defensive tackle Jamykal Neal will be the sole returning starter with this position group, so there is opportunity for Wilbon to win a starting job here. He could also be the second Longhorn in the last two years to land with Houston. Running back Kyle Porter landed here last offseason.
