2. Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks

Year Scheduled: 2022

The 2019 non-conference schedule saw a very up and down result for ULM. They nearly pulled off the huge upset on the road of former head coach Willie Taggart and the Florida State Seminoles, but then fell short against the Iowa State Cyclones in a 72-20 beat down by head coach Matt Campbell and sophomore quarterback Brock Purdy.

Taking on FCS Grambling State, Iowa State, and Florida State is a rather difficult non-conference schedule for a Group of Five program like Louisiana-Monroe. They also took on newly hired Florida State head coach Mike Norvell when he was with the Memphis Tigers still last season.

Similar to that of Texas State, Louisiana-Monroe hasn’t landed a single commit in any of their recruiting classes beyond 2020.

Louisiana-Monroe has more difficult non-conference schedules ahead of them in the coming seasons. But the 2022 slate might be the worst. The Warhawks take on the Crimson Tide and Texas football in a span of just three weeks. They get Texas on Sep. 3 and then face Alabama on Sep. 17. Both of those tough tests come on the road too.

The only meeting in the history of these two programs came in 2009, when the Longhorns bested the Warhawks by the final score of 59-20. This will be the next time these two programs meet during the regular season. Next year, ULM has a difficult non-conference slate ahead by facing Georgia and Arkansas in two of their four games outside of the Sun Belt.
