1. Wyoming Cowboys

Year Scheduled: 2023

Wyoming will be more than likely the middle of the road opponent for the Texas football program during the 2023 non-conference slate. Unless Rice really picks themselves up soon, then the Longhorns should be able to roll through them once again. Rice didn’t put up much of a test against anyone (actually barring the Big 12-runner up Baylor Bears) this season.

However, the Cowboys are going to be still fighting in the Mountain West and will face the Longhorns for the first time since 2012. Texas is also a perfect 5-0 in their all-time series against Wyoming. The last time they faced saw the Longhorns get the best of Wyoming by the final score of 37-17. That was about the closest game of the three that Texas and Wyoming played from 2009-2012.

The most lopsided meeting between the Longhorns and Cowboys came in 2009, when Texas won by the final score of 41-10.

But Wyoming finished out their 2019 campaign on a high-note with an Arizona Bowl win over the Georgia State Panthers. That gave Wyoming a record of 8-5 to round things out.

Maybe Wyoming will also have more quarterback direction by the time they face the Longhorns. The bulk of the passing attempts when to Sean Chambers last season, but his eligibility should be well past done by the time they face Texas in 2023.

Moreover, this game against Wyoming will come one game after the Longhorns could be facing legendary head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Texas should be exhausted after that game, but hopefully looking to go undefeatead through that non-conference slate.
