Texas Football: How former Longhorn transfers fared elsewhere in 2019
Best of the rest
Joshua Rowland, Kicker
None of the former Texas football players on this slide of the list that transferred elsewhere is still playing college football entering the 2020 offseason. But it is worth mentioning what happened with a few of these former Longhorns.
Former Texas starting kicker Joshua Rowland put his name in the transfer portal last offseason after fellow kicker Cameron Dicker won out the top spot on the depth chart at the position. But Rowland had a nice 2019 campaign under former West Virginia offensive coordinator and Texas State Bobcats head coach Jake Spavital this year in San Marcos.
Rowland was perfect on 23 extra-point attempts and knocked through 13-of-18 field goal attempts (72.2 percent).
Kai Locksley, Quarterback
The once promising college career of Kai Locksley was derailed by poor fits with various programs and transfers to numerous FBS and JUCO schools. He was supposed to be entering his senior year as a quarterback with the UTEP Miners with some hope, but he was knocked with a reported DWI arrest prior to the start of the 2019 season.
Locksley still played for UTEP with some career-best production in 2019. He tallied up just shy of 2,000 total yards and 11 touchdowns, with just five interceptions.
Demarco Boyd, Linebacker
Two linebacker transfers from the Longhorns on this list didn’t land elsewhere after leaving the program. The 5-foot-11 and 240 pound former Longhorns linebacker was dismissed from the program after off-the-field issues last offseason.

Boyd still remains active on social media after his dismissal from Texas last offseason. He can be found supporting his former teammates, including Christmas-Giles and Urquidez after they put their names in the transfer portal. Boyd still looks to be a well-liked player on the Forty Acres.
The Gilmer, TX, native has his brother, cornerback Kris Boyd, playing in the NFL as he just finished up his rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings.
