Maybe the best late flip in the 2020 recruiting cycle for the Longhorns was the former Arkansas Razorbacks commit, and the brother of to-be junior running back Keaontay Ingram, Kelvontay Dixon. The former Arkansas pledge is heralded as a four-star athlete/wide receiver coming out of Carthage High School, the same place where Ingram attended during his recruitment.

Dixon ranks as the nation’s No. 343 2020 high school prospect and the No. 15 athlete. He also ranks just inside the top 50 prospects out of the state of Texas. The 6-foot and 180 pound skill position stud carries a versatile skill set that could allow him to lineup in a number of different spots for the Longhorn offense in the first year or two of his Texas career.

As one of the two major National Signing Day gets for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class, Dixon really helped to solidify the top 10 ranking in the nation. He started to gain a lot of traction with the Longhorns once former head coach Chad Morris saw the door out of Fayetteville. He was one of a number of Razorback decommitments after that point.

Dixon wound up choosing Texas over other offers from the Baylor Bears, Colorado Buffaloes, SMU Mustangs, Illinois Fighting Illini, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and UTSA Roadrunners. There was a point in time in which UTSA was actually making a legit run at Dixon, but Texas did well to make sure this commitment didn’t get away from them.
