One of the worst injuries at any skill position for the Texas football program last year was the loss of the former five-star Cuero wide receiver recruit and converted running back Jordan Whittington. Headed into his true freshman campaign, Whittington was touted as one of the nation’s real potential breakout stars from the 2019 recruiting cycle.

The 6-foot-1 and 215 pound Whittington put on a lot of size since arriving from Cuero, TX, to the Forty Acres. He’s now going back to his original position too. The speed and versatility that Whittington brings to the table should make an immediate difference for a receiving corps that will be seeking out difference makers this fall.

A sports hernia injury that lingered around for Whittington since fall camp of his true freshman season kept him out for nearly all of 2019. He did play in just one game last year, the season opener against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. In that one game against Louisiana Tech, Whittington got two touches for 17 yards.

The former five-star wide receiver recruit ranked as the nation’s No. 34 2019 high school prospect and the No. 2 athlete. He is moving back to wide receiver from running back, since the possible return to form of the former four-star Buford rusher Derrian Brown could add depth heading into spring camp.
