2. Back on the bubble

The most unfortunate news that came out of the loss to Oklahoma State for the Texas basketball program is the fact that they will now move back onto the bubble ahead of Selection Sunday. Come March 15, Longhorn basketball fans could be very nervous as to the fortunes of their team for the Big Dance.

Texas was likely going to ensure themselves a spot in the NCAA Tournament, and maybe even push for a single-digit seed, if they beat the Pokes on March 7. But the weekend didn’t go as planned for the Longhorns and they got yet another 20+ point loss to a team with a .500 record or worse in Big 12 play.

The losses that the Longhorns have at the hands of West Virginia, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State by more than 20 points each is definitely a bad blemish on their NCAA Tournament resume. It’s not always how many games you lose, but the fashion in which you do it. Texas didn’t show out in any positive manner in those three aforementioned losses.

The latest edition of CBS Sports Bracketology from Jerry Palm had Texas as one of the first four out in the NCAA Tournament field. The other three teams included in the first four out were the Wichita State Shockers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Texas Tech. Somehow, Texas and Texas Tech could find themselves on the outside looking in on Selection Sunday.
