1. Jericho Sims, Center

The only Texas basketball player on this list that had his 2019-20 season marred by injury at the end was junior center Jericho Sims. In 24 games played this season, Sims averaged 9.7 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists, while shooting 65.8 percent from the field and 59.2 percent from the charity stripe.

Just purely in terms of production and per game stats, Sims was by far the best player for the Longhorns during the season that was. Sims was to be missed during the Big 12 and possibly the NCAA Tournament, due to a season-ending back injury, but that was never to come to fruition.

Moreover, Sims posted a career best in offensive and defensive ratings, blowing his previous bests out of the water. His offensive rating sat above 120 and his defensive rating was below 94. That’s hard to do for any big man that had as much of the burden in the frontcourt rotation on both ends of the floor as he did for much of the season.

The box plus/minus rating of Sims sat at career-best 7.8. And Sims’ true shooting percentage was also a career-best at 65.8. But the best measure of the impact that Sims made came in the form of the team-high in almost every major advanced stat category, along with win shares (3.1) and win shares per 40 minutes (.190).
