While there are more options on the table for the Texas football program if they elect to pursue an offensive tackle target out of the transfer portal, it will be made more difficult by the different scheme fits available. There’s any number of ways that Texas could go, but the first name on this list is a very intriguing transfer candidate to pursue.

But more than likely the most talented option that the Longhorns have to scout out of the transfer portal that doesn’t already have a landing spot is the former Florida State Seminoles offensive tackle and four-star recruit Jauan Williams.

Two of the more ironic programs to send Williams a scholarship offer were the Texas A&M Aggies and Oklahoma Sooners. The reason why is that the Longhorns didn’t send Williams an offer out of high school.

Williams did get to play in some big games for Florida State last year. Unfortunately those big games were mostly to no avail, as one of the games he got more snaps in was against the No. 2 ranked Clemson Tigers. Williams actually had more appearances and starts in 2018, with eight games played and six starts.

Coming out of Archbishop Carroll in Washington D.C., Williams ranked as the nation’s No. 167 2016 high school prospect and the No. 16 offensive tackle. This 6-foot-7 and 310 pound monster in the trenches didn’t get to play as much as he would’ve liked to in 2019. And the coaching change last year to move on from former head coach Willie Taggart could be playing into the transfer decision of Williams.
