Two very talented former four and five-star recruits that originally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide put their names in the transfer portal early this offseason. The first of the two former Alabama defensive backs that put their name in the transfer portal this offseason is the 5-foot-11 and 185 pound Madison, MS, native Nigel Knott.

Medical issues kept Knott often off the field, in game action and in practice, during his four year stint with the Crimson Tide. If Knott can find another landing spot that he can get healthier and more productive at, then he could be a solid find on the transfer market.

However, the name that has more long-term potential for a suitor like the Texas football program would be the former five-star recruit and Mansfield, TX, native cornerback Scooby Carter. This 6-foot and 185 pound Mansfield Legacy product had a number of impressive offers coming out of high school. His offer sheet included the Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Longhorns.

Carter ranked as the nation’s No. 30 2019 high school prospect and the No. 3 cornerback in the 247Sports recruiting classifications. He didn’t get much playing time during his first year under head coach Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa, so he decided to take his talents elsewhere. Recently hired Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash could use a lengthy and skilled corner that can hang on an island like Carter on the Forty Acres.
