1. Roschon Johnson, Running Back

The running back position is going to be as deep as it has been in quite a while for the Longhorns this coming season. Texas has three running backs that are all legitimate All-Big 12-caliber players. Even beyond those three rushers, Texas has some talent in the backfield that could make this position group one of the deepest in the Big 12.

It all starts with rising junior Keaontay Ingram, who should get the biggest workload at the outset of the regular season. Then rising sophomore former converted quarterback Roschon Johnson will be heading up the crew in the backfield behind Ingram. And the last of this standout running back trio is incoming freshman former five-star recruit Bijan Robinson.

Last season, Roschon racked up 649 rushing yards on 123 attempts, good for seven touchdowns. He averaged more than five yards per carry and racked up more than 800 total yards from scrimmage and eight total touchdowns. Johnson and Ingram were one of the best running back duos Texas had under the direction of Herman and former head coach Charlie Strong.

The breakthroughs that Johnson put on display last season, and his knowledge of the offense, makes him a very big threat with another year on campus under his belt. Johnson is one of the most versatile running backs in the entire conference, and he offers a great change of pace along with Ingram and Robinson.
