3. San Francisco 49ers

It’s weird how both of the teams that appeared in last season’s Super Bowl need help along the offensive line in the current offseason. But the Kansas City Chiefs are more prevalent on depth in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball than the San Francisco 49ers, hence why the latter could be going after more help in this draft class.

The 2020 NFL Draft could see numerous offensive linemen picked up by both the 49ers and the Chiefs. Former Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Patrick Mahomes is obviously a key part of the future for the Chiefs, and Jimmy Garoppolo should still be an important part of the plans for the 49ers heading into the near future.

At the right guard spot, the 49ers are really only two-deep. Even after the majority of the big free agent signings are done with, the 49ers are lacking in depth at right guard. Left guard has only about two good options on the depth chart too. The 49ers are likely to roll with Laken Tomlinson and Daniel Brunskill as their starting guards, but there’s not much behind them.

Braun would be a very safe undrafted free agent signing that is a low-risk option to shore up the depth in the trenches. He’s a good run blocker that can reach the second and third level of the defense. He also has experience in a multitude of different offensive schemes, which should help him adapt to the playbook with head coach and former Longhorn Kyle Shanahan.
