Projected starters

D’shawn Jamison, Junior

As the most noted playmaker in this group of Texas cornerbacks, and what seems like a set in stone starter for this coming season, rising junior multiple weapon D’shawn Jamison could be a star in the making. Jamison made an impact on multiple sides of the ball through his first two years on the Forty Acres. He also started to breakthrough as a cornerback down the stretch last season.

This 5-foot-10 and 190 pound former four-star recruit registered 35 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, three pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery, as a sophomore. He also posted one kick return and one punt return for a touchdown in the last two years. Jamison averages an impressive more than 16 yards per punt return and about 25 yards per kick return in his college career.

Jalen Green, Junior

A pairing of projected starting cornerbacks that has the most playmaking potential of any in recent memory for the Longhorns is ready for the coming season. Jamison and fellow rising junior cornerback and former four-star recruit Jalen Green both bring very unique skill sets to the table that could play off each other very well.

The 6-foot-1 and 185 pound Green is one of the most naturally talented cornerbacks Texas signed in the last three or four recruiting classes. As a sophomore, he registered 30 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and five pass deflections. He did miss four games, though, last season due to an upper-body injury. Maybe with an extended offseason to recover and a better scheme fit, Green could have the breakout Longhorns fans have waited for in the last year and a half in 2020.
