Z-Wide Receiver

Starter: Tarik Black, Senior

The biggest addition to the receiving corps as it stands now this offseason is the haul that included former Michigan Wolverines graduate transfer and rising senior wideout Tarik Black. This 6-foot-3 and 215 pound former four-star recruit should be able to secure a starting spot at the Z-wide receiver spot if he can stay healthy.

While the Longhorns are getting accustomed to turning to the transfer portal for help, this is the first time that Herman has done so at the wide receiver position. Black will bring 40 career catches for 507 receiving yards and two touchdowns with him.

Backup: Joshua Moore, Redshirt Sophomore

The former four-star recruit and rising redshirt sophomore 6-foot-1 and 180 pound wide receiver Joshua Moore ran into off-the-field trouble last year, but he should be back in the mix this coming season. Moore would’ve benefited greatly from having the opportunity to compete in spring camp once again, but that didn’t come to be.

The novel coronavirus pandemic impacted pretty much every college football program around the country, but the Longhorns had a few players that really needed to shake off the rust like Moore. Maybe Moore could make headway come the start of camp (whenever that will be) this coming season. He brings seven career catches for 53 yards and one touchdown with him into his third year since signing as a part of the 2018 recruiting class.
