A loss to the 2018 Texas recruiting class that didn’t seem like it would be such a big hit to the group at the time involved the four-star Arizona Western College and Spring Valley, CA, native Dominick Wood-Anderson. As one of the very best JUCO prospects in the nation during the 2018 recruiting cycle, the Longhorns did miss out on a good one here.

Wood-Anderson would originally commit to Texas back on June 21, 2017. But it wouldn’t take long before Herman and the Longhorns lost the commitment of Wood-Anderson. Less than six months after he committed to Texas, he decommitted amid a bevy of offers. He received scholarship offers from the likes of the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans, among others, after an October decommitment from Texas.

The key offer that Wood-Anderson received after decommitting from Texas came in December 2017, from the Tennessee Volunteers. He got his offer from Tennessee on the same day as an official visit with Texas A&M prior to announcing his commitment to the Vols, on Dec. 8, 2017. He did get one visit in with Tennessee before officially announcing his commitment during the first Early Signing Period, and promptly inked down his National Letter of Intent.

The winding road of Wood-Anderson’s recruitment is an interesting albeit underrated one. He contributed at a pretty high level for Tennessee during his two years playing in Knoxville. Wood-Anderson registered 38 catches for more than 400 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his college career. But he was also a very reliable blocker for the Vols.

After a decent senior campaign in 2019, the Seattle Seahawks signed Wood-Anderson as an undrafted free agent this offseason.
