There’s two large reasons why landing a commitment from four-star All Saints Episcopal center James Brockermeyer is so important for the Longhorns. The first and most obvious reason up front is so that Texas can get their hands on the nation’s top ranked center prospect in the 2021 class. Center is soon to be a position of need for Texas.

The second, and maybe the most recognizable, reason why it is so important for the Longhorns to nab Brockermeyer is opening the door to get his twin brother too. Five-star All Saints Episcopal offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer is likely to be a package deal along with his brother James.

If Texas can get James and Tommy Brockermeyer in their 2021 recruiting class, then it would be nothing short of an absolute game-changer. The Brockermeyer brothers would be the grand prize for the Longhorns in this cycle.

James ranks as the nation’s No. 192 2021 high school prospect, top overall center, and No. 32 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The sole 247Sports recruiting ranking still slots him as the nation’s top center prospect, and No. 43 prospect out of Texas.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do still give a slight edge to Texas to land a commitment from Brockermeyer over the rest of the field. And the Rivals FutureCast has 83 percent of their analysts and publishers picking James to commit to Alabama over Texas.
