Three potential prospects stick out from their film and positional fit with the 2021 Texas football recruiting class that could be offered now.

This is a perfect time for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class to scout deeper and take advantage of the differentiated atmosphere on the trail in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Since the NCAA mandated no in-person recruiting contact through the end of next month, programs have to get creative with how they try to reach their top targets.

Texas experienced mixed success recently with various big-time in-state prospects. But hopefully they will get more good news on the trail soon as two potentially vital parts of the 2021 class are soon to announce their commitment decisions. Two four-star defensive backs, Kennedale safety JD Coffey III and Kimball cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem, are making their decisions on June 15.

However, there’s not many other set decision dates for key Texas targets. The last commit that the Longhorns got in the 2021 class was from unranked ProKick Australia punter Isaac Pearson. That is the third straight punter commit that the Longhorns got from the ProKick Australia program.

The commitment from Pearson brought the total number in the Longhorns 2021 class to 11. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 17 in the nation and remains in the top spot in the Big 12 (as of the morning of June 7).

While the placement in the national class rankings can carry a lot of significance, head coach Tom Herman should also be focusing on doing the most specific scouting job he can to uncover some hidden gems. It appears that he already did that with the likes of four-star Martin outside linebacker Morice Blackwell and three-star Hallettsville running back Jonathon Brooks. But the job isn’t done yet.

Here’s a look into three vastly underrated 2021 recruits that the Longhorns should really look at offering late in this cycle.
