5. BJ Foster, Safety/SPUR

The award for the oddest storyline so far for any injury to any Longhorn this offseason belongs to rising junior standout defensive back BJ Foster. He apparently felt it necessary to punch his car after someone crashed into it and then didn’t leave any information behind. Thus Foster enters summer workouts with a fractured hand.

Granted it looks like he’ll still be participating in summer workouts to the best of his ability.

This was still a key offseason for Foster to see if he could finally get over that hump and full his true star potential in the Longhorns secondary. He’ll be facing a pretty sizable hurdle in recovering from this hand injury that was self-inflicted earlier this month. Working out with a fractured hand has got to hold him back a good bit.

This coming season, Foster should either be playing at the SPUR position or back at safety. He was moved by former defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and Herman to play nickelback last season from his original position, safety. If he goes back to join fellow former five-star recruit and rising junior safety Caden Sterns, that would be a very formidable duo.

Last season, Foster registered 35 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and one pass deflection. He had a really solid true freshman campaign too. If Foster can finally put it all together within a full season of games played, then he could turn into one of the brightest stars in college in the modern day.
