4. DeMarvion Overshown, Linebacker

Keeping the focus on the defensive side of the ball for the Longhorns, the next player on the list has one of the highest ceilings of any linebacker and/or defensive back in all of the Big 12. Rising junior linebacker, and former converted defensive back, DeMarvion Overshown has yet to show what he can do consistently at just one position on defense.

Last season, Overshown was the most productive he’s been yet. But he still got limited exposure playing in a role similar to that of Foster at times. Now Herman and recently hired defensive coordinator Chris Ash are looking to work him more at linebacker than anything else.

Overshown played in five games last season, where he registered 18.0 tackles for loss, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble. If that type of production could come about from Overshown in bits and pieces of five games played, then he could do something very special come this fall.

The 6-foot-4 and 220 pound Overshown will need to work closely with strength and conditioning coach Yancy McKnight to continue to get his body ready for an official position change. The linebacking corps will desperately need the help from Overshown to plug holes in depth from an overall lack of returning production.
