By far the most highly touted prospect on this list that the Longhorns signed as part of the 2020 class is 6-foot-2 and 220 pound Duncanville dual-threat quarterback/athlete Ja’Quinden Jackson. Nearly leading the Duncanville High School football program to a state title in Texas himself, Jackson made some headlines with his breakthrough play during his senior season.

But a knee injury would end Jackson’s season prematurely, and we didn’t get to see him round out his high school career in the best fashion possible. He still has plenty of film showing what he can truly do as a threat with both his legs and his arm. He’s one of the most elusive quarterbacks you will find escaping the pocket. And he reaches the third and fourth levels of the defense in the blink of an eye.

The quarterback run component of Herman’s offensive scheme would be taken to a whole other dynamic if Jackson winds up winning the starting job anytime in the two or three years after the time of Sam Ehlinger is done on the Forty Acres. Jackson should compete with the likes of four-star Lake Travis dual-threat quarterback Hudson Card for the starting job in the near future.

However, Jackson ranks as the nation’s No. 73 2020 high school prospect, No. 3 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 10 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The sole 247Sports recruiting ranking holds Jackson out as the nation’s No. 46 high school prospect, No. 3 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 7 prospect out of Texas.

Despite how highly touted Jackson was coming out of high school, he is still one of the better finds in recent memory for the Longhorns.
